- Actually, there were some modems made with DTMF detection.
- I believe these were made by XIRCOM?? If one has a voice modem
- and understands how to get the digitized data, one can use
- a number of Goertzel filters to pick out the tones and do
- detection. There is a need to do DTMF detection in modems
- but since neither the manufactures of modems and the software
- people can get to gether, nothing is done. Many applictions
- become practical with DTMF decoding in the modem. Most applications
- would be with a voice/modem but I've seen applictions that
- only needed the DTMF.
